Oct24-26 Lotsa Rain : the weekend started out sunny and I was able to hike around and see how much good the recent rains had done in refilling the various stock tanks.(mostly page one here) the rest of the photos show just how quickly things flood when the ground is saturated, so much so, I stayed an extra day so I coud get out in my car.

New Lens II : More testing. This weekend we were up at the farm, and I had trouble using the mega lens with just a monopod, so I set up the tripod (found a good wndow in the house to hide behind) and saw lots of birds! I was most excited at seeing the eastern bluebird. It stayed pretty far away for the most part, but thanks to the new lens I was able to get some pics. The birds enjoyed the weeds in the yard and the dog's "water bowls"

Testing: New Lens : Finally saved enough to get a bazooka (well, actually a 150-500 mm zoom lens) I think it weighs about as much! ;-) i was hoping to get some better, closer bird photos. I used only a monopod, and didn't use the optical stabilization on this round of photos, plan on trying that next

50 mmFun : played with my 50 mm lens. We probably had our first freezing temperatures last night, so none of my small friends were out and about. As usual the dogs look pained to be in a picture (please, I'm sure that didn't hurt that much!) Using a fixed lens means you have to really position yourself and consider the image before taking the picture. for the Yucca blossoms, I finally laid on the ground to get the shots I wanted (that concrete was cold too)

Labory Day Hunting Expedition : Labor Day weekend usually signifies the beginning of dove season, and we always go hunting. This year though we didn't get up to the farm to hunt, so I decided to hunt in our own yard. But instead of a shotgun, I used my camera and tried to capture pics of our hummingbirds. Got a few shots of them, but had to settle on slower moving targets, like flowers, bees and our dogs. Had a lot of fun though!

Farm June20th Weekend : We got there Friday early enough to fish the lake, water level is going down. Arizona : In March of 2004 I took my Dad on a vacation to see a little of Arizona. He had never been. He's a big John Wayne fan and loves the old western movies that were made in Monument Valley.
